Nick T. Concentration
For my concentration I chose to focus on trees and the versatility they have. Since I was a little kid I have always loved how trees transform each seasons. Trees are big, beautiful, strong, and can live hundreds of years. They have seen many generations, disasters and weathered many storms. My community has trees lining the streets. The trees in my neighborhood have deep roots from age. The children who grow up here then move on to have their own families here--deep roots. Trees inspire my art.
When I started to plan out my concentrations, I wrote up 20 different ideas for where I could go with this. I thought of things such as animals that live in trees, country's whose flags have trees, even as far as what holidays involve trees. I looked at what different colors and shapes associate with trees and looked into countries that use trees as a symbol or have them prevalent in their art. I revolved my work around these investigations. I wanted to learn how truly versatile trees are.
